The Algarve Tourism Region and the Chamber of Faro were in the French region of Provence, Alpes and Côte d'Azur, last week, with the objective of promoting tourism and the real estate sector in the Algarve region, and brought from there agreements and seeds for future collaborations with French institutions.

The Algarve delegation, which included elements from these two entities, participated in an initiative by the Consulate General of Portugal in Marseille and the CCIFP, which included a seminar to promote Algarve Tourism and served to establish several contacts with the Franco-Portuguese Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCIFP) and with the municipalities of Saint Maxime and Nice.

This event was aimed at French citizens, Portuguese emigrants and Portuguese-descendants living in France "who can take advantage of the Portuguese non-habitual resident tax regime, using their savings in our country with advantage", revealed the Faro local authority.

On the sidelines of the event, Faro reached an agreement with CCIFP, with the aim of promoting the internationalization of companies headquartered in Faro with the French market and publicize the council's potential for attracting foreign investment.

«With this collaboration agreement, which will be implemented in a future visit of a delegation of businessmen and CCIFP leaders to Faro, producing effects after deliberation in the competent municipal bodies, thus fulfilling one of the major objectives of this mission. Namely, to establish a bridge of contacts with the Portuguese-French community residing in the South of France, which is going through a moment of vitality and economic strength and which has shown a great interest in carrying out investments in the Algarve», he described.

During this stay, the mayor of Fari Rogério Bacalhau and the vice president of RTA João Fernandes also established contacts with those responsible for the Municipalities of Saint Maxime and Nice, «seeking to create the bases for future understandings».

«In the particular case of the Municipality of Nice, represented in these contacts by the Vice-President of the Municipality, the Portuguese descendant Laureano Azinheirinha, a cooperation with Faro in the areas of support to the teaching of Portuguese in the Region, in the areas of the sea and tourism promotion», revealed the Chamber of Faro.
