A lot of classical music, with proposals for the whole family, an award-winning comedy, with renowned Portuguese actors and theater made in the region are the proposals of Teatro das Figuras, in Faro, for the month of February.

On Saturday, there is a concert for the younger ones, by the Classical Orchestra of the Academy of Music of Lagos, who will star, at 16:30 pm and 21:30 pm, in the show «A Quinta da Amizade», a symphonic fable composed by Jorge Salgueiro, who will also conduct the orchestra.

On the 15th, at 21 pm, the Farense cultural structure hosts the comedy “A Grande Estreia”, winner of the Molière Award for Best Comedy of 30. Ana Bola, Victor de Sousa, Pedro Diogo and Maria Henrique are part of the “luxury cast » which will stage the work of Danielle Navarro and Patrick Haudecoeur, produced by UAU.

«A Grande Estreia shows the backstage of a play in which the director, the actors, the costume designer and the technical director will do their best for [the spectator] to have an unforgettable night. So, nothing is ready, the last details are fine-tuned until the audience enters the room and watches the last rehearsal and then the Grand Premiere… The Grand Premiere is a comedy full of big and small mistakes, where everything goes evil», describes the Teatro das Figuras.

On February 22, the theater is once again given space, this time with the play «Na Sala que Agora é Quarto», produced by the Algarve company «Doismaisum», which takes the stage at 21 pm. Directed by António Gambóias, this show has Ana Cristina Oliveira and Gabriela Santana as interpreters.

This piece shows «fragments of discourses of a woman/women of today». "While they unburden themselves, the discourse on a society weakened by selfishness, envy and superficiality is interwoven."

On the following day, at 12 noon, there is a new Promenade Concert, where families are invited to see, or remember, classic works. The February 23 concert kicks off the 2014 cycle, whose theme is “Stories with Music”.

«The first is The Story of the Little Tailor, a classic from the Brothers Grimm collection with music by Tibor Harsányi, a French composer of Hungarian origin. Directed by Jorge Eduardo Gomes and interpreted by the Orquestra Clássica do Sul, this is a concert cycle that many families are keen not to miss».

Before the end of the month, on February 27, at 18 pm, a new cycle begins, this time the «Caminos Duo», a cycle of recitals that the Pedro Ruivo Foundation performs at Teatro das Figuras. In this first session, Mikhail Shumov (cello) and Joana Vieira (piano) will interpret works by Prokofiev, Rachmaninov, Brahms and Piazzolla.
