The carnival festivities in Lagoa will take place between the 28th of February and the 5th of March, involving the entire municipality, with the logistical support and/or sponsorship of the Lagoa City Council, or those organized by the schools (Children's Carnival), or by the collectivities.

The Carnival of the communities is underway and has been, for many years, considered one of the main cultural and associative manifestations in the municipality of Lagoa.

The participation of many people in the parades, as extras or simple spectators, has been increasing in parallel with the social dimension of the event, as a result of the improvement in the general conditions offered.

O Carnival of Collectives of the Municipality will be held in three stages:

Sunday, March 2 – The carnival corso starts in Ferragudo and Porches at 14 pm, arriving in Lagoa at 15 pm, next to the Municipal Auditorium, where the parade will begin.
Tuesday March 4th – The gathering will be at the ADR of Mexilhoeira around 14 pm, followed by the respective parade.
Wednesday March 5th – The Entrudo Burial, organized by the ACD de Ferragudo (Sports Ship), will start at 21 pm.

Carnival Festivities in Carvoeiro

The Carnival festivities in Carvoeiro date back to the beginning of the last century, this being the oldest known Carnival in the municipality of Lagoa, where it emerged in the mid-30s, at the initiative of some Carvoeirenses and the Sociedade Recreativa Carvoeirense “20 de Janeiro”.

This is a reference community in the municipality and one of the oldest, an inspiring associative example of the foundation of a handful of other collectivities, such as the Sociedade Recreativa Capricho Estombarense and the Sociedade Vencedora Recreativa Cultural Ferragudense.

With this associative incentive, Carnival began to take on another dimension. After the 25th of April, people from different cultures and artistic dimensions arrived in Carvoeiro, which further encouraged the carnival celebrations, among which the names of Daniel Soares (Dani), Alberto Silva (Beto) and Eduardo Ramos, promoters of a different version of the Carvoeiro carnival.

For this year the program is as follows:
Saturday, March 1, 22:00 pm – Carnival Ball – Sociedade Recreativa Carvoeirense
Sunday, March 2, 15:00 pm – Carnival Parade – Ruas da Vila
Monday, March 3, 22:00 pm – Carnival Ball – Sociedade Recreativa Carvoeirense
Tuesday, March 4, 15:00 pm – Carnival Parade – Ruas da Vila
22:00 pm – Carnival Ball, at Sociedade Recreativa Carvoeirense
