The formation «Severino Quartet» will perform on March 7 at Teatro Lethes, in Faro, at 21 pm in another concert of the cycle «Uma Friday de Jazz», promoted by the association «Grémio das Músicas». This will be the national debut of the quartet, which had already had a «small introduction in the Algarve during the summer of 30».

«The Severino Quartet is an original contemporary jazz project that takes a stylistic step in a sound clean de Cool jazz, unisons in mentioning Bebop and the emergence of impressionist music in the wake of European Jazz, enriching the originality of their own compositions», describes «Grémio das Músicas».

The project, which despite having Portuguese mentors is based in Amsterdam, results from the cooperation between Tom Severino on piano and Alex Severino on guitar, presented in Portugal with the collaboration of Zé Eduardo on double bass and Sónia “Little B” on drums.

All compositions are original «except one or another cover in which, at times, a new harmony is created or transfigured in its presentation». «The quartet uses a formula that goes to the roots of the Jazz sound also with regard to instrumentation, using a clean piano and guitar sound that brings it to life, in unison to Parker, an impressionist polyphonic mixture», describes the association.

The Severino Quartet played throughout the Netherlands, New York, Pennsilvania, London and West Sussex.

Tickets for the show cost 8 euros.
