The Ocean Restaurant at Vila Vita Parc (Lagoa), led by Chef Hans Neuner, retains 2 Michelin Stars. The long-awaited announcement of the awarding of the coveted Red Guide awards for Portugal and Spain took place on Wednesday night at the Guggenheim Museum, in Bilbao, and was accompanied live by Chef Hans Neuner himself, at the invitation of the organization.

The Ocean opened in 2007, by the hand of Austrian Hans Neuner, and won the 1st Michelin Star in 2009 and the 2nd in 2011 – an unprecedented feat in Portugal, the fact that a Chef conquers two stars in such a short space of time.

Since working in Portugal, Hans Neuner has made a gradual, knowledgeable and safe approach to Portuguese products and the traditions of national gastronomy. A journey made up of discoveries, research, experimentation and creativity.

It is, however, and as Hans likes to stress, a team work, in which everyone gives their contribution and their ideas for the creation of new dishes and elements.

Hans Neuner was born in the Austrian region of Tyrol and from a very young age he took up professional cooking. One of the most important moments of his career was the period when he worked at the restaurant at the Adlon hotel, in Berlin, where he was a pupil of Chef Karlheinz Hauser.

During the nine years he was at Adlon, and where he showed all his talent for cooking, Hans also had the opportunity to gain more experience at the Tristan restaurant (two Michelin stars, Majorca), before becoming Chef-de-cuisine from the Seven Seas restaurant (one Michelin star, Hamburg).

Ocean continues like this with “exceptional cuisine, worth a visit”, as the 2* rating in the Michelin Guide itself is called.
