Banco BIC/Carmim/Tavira, Louletano/Dunas Douradas and Clube Xelb (Silves) are the three Algarve teams that will compete, from today until Sunday 8th, in the 21st Liberty Seguros Tour of Portugal of the Future, a competition reserved for the category sub-25, which has the participation of a total of eleven continental teams.

The peloton will cover 624,5 kilometers, divided into five stages, starting this Wednesday in Oliveira do Bairro and ending on Sunday at the Carvoeira wind farm (Torres Vedras).

Vidal Fitas, sports director of Banco BIC/Carmim, invited cyclists João Pereira, Valter Pereira, João Rodrigues, Ruben Silva and Diogo Nunes to the race.

Jorge Piedade, sports director of Louletano/Dunas Douradas, summoned Eujeniu Cozonac, Victor Valinho, Fábio Leça, Dominic Mestre, Duarte Ferreira and Augusto Vitorino.

For his part, João Hortelão, the sports director of Clube Xelb, invited cyclists Pedro Henriques, Paulo Silvestre, Antero Carvalho, Ricardo Pires and André Silva to run.

 

Juniors' return to Portugal runs in parallel

 

In parallel with the Volta a Portugal do Futuro, the eighth edition of the Juniors' Volta a Portugal will also be held, which will take place between the 6th and the 8th of September. The places of arrival of the stages of the two competitions will be the same on the days when both races coincide.

The Juniors' Volta a Portugal will be disputed by 110 runners, representing 19 teams, who will face three stages, totaling 302,6 kilometres.

The Junior Cycling Club of Tavira team runs the Volta a Portugal of that category, having been summoned cyclists Fernando Carvalho, António Martins, Gonçalo Rodrigues, Fábio Rodrigues, and Tiago Silva.

The first stretch of Volta Júnior is theoretically the least demanding, with 95,2 kilometers from Alburitel (Ourém municipality), from where the caravan departs at 12:20 pm, to Bombarral, where the arrival is scheduled for 15:00 pm.

The second stage is the most extensive of the competition, starting in Óbidos, at 11:30 am, and ending, after covering 112,5 kilometers, in Caldas da Rainha.

The land of artistic ceramics welcomes the departure of the last trip, which will last 94,9 kilometers, starting at 11:30 am and ending, coinciding with a second category mountain count, at the Carvoeira Wind Farm, Torres Vedras, at 14:15 pm.

The Juniors' Volta a Portugal competition in parallel with the renewed Volta a Portugal do Futuro aims to provide the competition with the youngest with greater visibility.

Its performance at this time of the season allows riders a more careful preparation, during the summer, without being hampered by the academic obligations of the riders, being also an excellent test for the World Championship, which takes place at the end of the month, in Florence, Italy.
