The Algarve Central network of cities was a national winner in the European Business Promotion Awards, in the category "Development of the Business Environment".

First prize was awarded to the Simplex Autárquico project created by the six municipalities that make up the network (Albufeira, Faro, Loule, Olhão, São Brás de Alportel and Tavira), which streamlined processes between the different municipalities.

«As it was widely publicized at that time, since 15 May 2012, that the residents and companies of the municipalities of Albufeira, Faro, Loulé, Olhão, São Brás de Alportel and Tavira are now able to follow up on matters related to urban planning, fees and licenses, at any of the service desks in these six municipalities, as well as having more than 100 harmonized forms between these municipalities. », recalled the Chamber of Faro, who leads the network of cities and put forward the candidacy for the award. "This is a unique initiative at national level", he stressed.

"Knowing the difficulties of those who deal with identical issues in different municipalities, with very different procedures, work models and forms, this initiative came to facilitate and simplify the access of citizens and companies to municipal services," added the municipality.

Within the scope of the same project, it is moving towards «online submission, ensuring direct access to the various applications and databases of the different municipal services, from the existing municipal stores». "With the decentralized service, regardless of the place of consultation or the existing IT applications, the improvement of services provided to the local community, and in particular to companies, was thus consolidated", considered the Chamber of Faro.

The award was presented to the Chamber of Faro, as the leading municipality in the network of cities, this Wednesday. The award "recognizes and thus consecrates the work of cooperation, understanding and concertation of efforts that its 6 municipalities have followed in various areas."
