The official results of Silves, Monchique and Olhão are finally available on the DGAI website, thus concluding the vote count in the Algarve.
In Silves, the Chamber was won by the CDU (Rosa Palma is the new president), with 34,66% of the votes and three seats in the council. It follows PSD, with 27,32% (2) and PS, with 25,62% (2). The BE, which did not elect any councilor, reached 5,09%.
In the parishes, CDU won São Bartolomeu de Messines and Silves, PSD Armação de Pêra, São Marcos da Serra and Algoz/Tunes and PS Alcantarilha/Pera.
If they do not have a majority in the Chamber, the communists also do not have it in the Municipal Assembly, where the CDU elected 8 deputies, the PSD 6, the PS also 6 and the BE 1.
In Olhão, the PS kept the Chamber, now having António Pina as president, but lost most. Socialists achieved 32,60% of the votes and three seats in the council, against 26,29% for the PSD (2), 11,94% for the CDU (1) and 9,40 for the BE (1). The independent candidacy «Novo Rumo», by João Pereira, reached 6,04%, the CDS 3,14% and the PCTP/MRPP 2,33%.
In the Municipal Assembly, the Socialists won, but they don't have a majority.
PS also won three parishes: Olhão, Pechão and Quelfes, while PSD won in Moncarapacho.
Finally, in Monchique, the PSD of Rui André, who was re-elected, won with 47,42% of the votes, which guaranteed him a majority in the Chamber (3 seats in the council). The PS reached 32,19% (2), the independent list led by Carlos Henrique had 10,51% and the CDU 4,94%.
Despite the majority in the Chamber, the Social Democrats did not obtain a majority in the Municipal Assembly, where they elected 7 deputies, against 6 from the PS, 1 from the independents and 1 from the CDU. In the parishes, two went to the PS (Alferce and Monchique) and one to the PSD (Marmelete), which means that, in AM, social democrats and socialists are tied.
