The Municipality of Portimão will soon establish a cooperation protocol with the AEP – Porto Business Association, through its subsidiary Exponor, aiming at the periodic holding of fairs and exhibitions in infrastructure or equipment located in the municipality.
The objective is to promote events at Portimão Arena, including the Park of Fairs and Exhibitions of Portimão, focusing on the sectors of the sea, classic cars, cosmetics, home and decoration, children and babies or caravans, among others.
The proponents of this protocol took into account «the role that the holding of fairs and exhibitions for the presentation and sale of products and services can play for the economic dynamism of the Algarve region, recognizing that for the success of this initiative, collaboration and the combination of different experiences of each of the entities».
In this sense, and in order to materialize mutual collaboration in the organization and carrying out of the exhibitions that will be held, a coordination nucleus will be created consisting of Exponor and Portimão Urbis, in order to expand this business area, positioning Portimão as an excellent destination for the MICE market segment – Meetings, Incentives, Conferences and Exhibitions.
The partnership aims to reinforce the work that Portimão Urbis has been developing in order to position Portimão Arena as the ideal infrastructure for the holding of fairs and congresses, whose fruits have resulted in the last year, for example, in the realization of BLIP – Better Living in Portugal , with more than a hundred exhibitors, from Algarve Genuíno, which surpassed 50 exhibitors, and from the Congress of Jehovah's Witnesses, where about four thousand and five hundred people participated, from the Algarve and from various parts of the country.
Portimão Arena is the largest and most versatile infrastructure of its kind south of the Tagus, having the latest technology capable of supporting a large variety of events in its approximately 6.000 m2 area.
