The partnership created around the Rota Vicentina has extended beyond its initial promoters, now involving, in total, around one hundred businessmen in the tourism sector from across the region and public partners, between the municipalities of Santiago do Cacém and Vila of the Bishop, who formally constituted an association.

The project, which implemented a 350 kilometer long pedestrian route on the ground between the city of Santiago do Cacém and Cabo de São Vicente, was conceived and coordinated by Associação Casas Brancas, which worked in partnership with Associação Almargem, with municipal councils. , parish councils and regional tourism entities in the Algarve and Alentejo.

«Having in perspective the promotion of nature tourism in the Southwest of Portugal, together with the preservation of natural resources, as a model for the sustainability of the local economy, the expansion of the partnership appears as a natural evolution of a project that unites an entire region for one a common cause that serves everyone – hiking enthusiasts, the local community, businessmen, public institutions, environmentalists and national and foreign tourists», stress those responsible for the new association, in a press release.

In addition to promoting the Rota Vicentina, the Association is responsible for monitoring and maintaining the routes, as well as raising awareness among the population, companies and institutions, promoting networking and supporting marketing.

There are about a hundred founders of the Rota Vicentina Association, but new adhesions are expected soon – from tourism companies and also from individuals who value and identify with the spirit of the project, in addition to the main public institutions in the region and in the sector.

The disclosure of the creation of the now Rota Vicentina – Association for the Promotion of Nature Tourism in Costa Alentejana and Vicentina comes at the time when the members of the governing bodies were sworn in, after the first elections, held on July 9, although the Assembly -Constituent General held on June 5th.

The direction of the Rota Vicentina Association is chaired by Marta Cabral, who has coordinated, as executive director and associative director of Casas Brancas, the entire Rota Vicentina project since its inception, being the vice-president Rudolf Muller, who was for 10 years the president of the White Houses.
