Faro, Loulé and Portimão will join the international event "People united against the Troika!", called by the movement "Fuck the Troika!", in demonstrations organized by citizens that will take place from 16 pm onwards.

In the Algarve capital, the meeting point is the ramp at Teatro das Figuras, in neighboring Loulé in front of the Municipal Market and, in the city of Barlavento, in front of the Portimão Town Hall.

The Algarve towns join more than 120 cities in 12 countries where protests have already been confirmed.

A journey that will have an international nature, as the call for participation "circulated among dozens of movements in Spain, France, Italy, Greece, Cyprus, Ireland, England, Scotland, Germany, Slovenia."

«At the meeting on April 26, in Lisbon, comrades from several European countries were present, who discussed this proposal together», many of whom should join the protest in their countries of origin, announced the movement «Que Screw the Troika!» in a note published on Facebook, one of the main vehicles of dissemination and mobilization for the protest.

According to the elements that are organizing the protest in Portimão, it is taking place “for the resignation of the PSD/CDS government and against the troika”. In Portimão, «a march, on foot, through several streets of the city, followed by a concentration, in the riverside area, next to the bandstand, with political interventions and music of intervention» is planned.

"The course of the demonstration will be as follows: Largo 1º de Maio, Rua Serpa Pinto, Rua Santa Isabel, Rua Portas da Serra, Rua do Comércio, Rua Mouzinho de Albuquerque, Rua Direita and ending next to the Bandstand," announced the nucleus of Portimão of the movement “Fuck the troika!”.

Em Faro, the call for the group of citizens that is facilitating the demonstration only mentions the concentration at the Teatro das Figuras and the slogan “dismissal!”.

But, in other initiatives organized by the same collective, the practice followed was to do what most of the people present decided, in a popular assembly that will precede an eventual march.

Also in Loulé there is no announced march, only the concentration in front of the market. «Make your poster, bring your voice. He comes to ask for the resignation of the PDS/CDS Government. Come and say enough!”, called the Loulé Nonpartisan Movement on its blog.

“This is the beginning of a process that wants to be decentralized, inclusive and participated. We want to build it collectively and joining our forces. As of today, the date of June 1st will be announced on a European scale and everyone and everyone is invited to join in an international protest against the troika and against austerity, in favor of the peoples to decide their lives». one reads in the note of the movement "Que se Fuck the Troika", which also serves as the motto for the call for the protest in Faro.
