The Coral de Lagoa Week will once again give music to residents and those who visit this Barlavento Algarvio county between the 4th and 11th of May.

Coral Groups of Aljezur, Faro, Loulé, Portimão and Sines, in addition to the host Coral Ideias do Levante de Lagoa, are the protagonists of the 15th edition of the event.

The opening will be in charge of the Coral Atlântico de Sines, which will perform on Saturday, May 4, at 17 pm, at the Igreja de Porches «where it will perform, among other works, the beautiful Mass Anima by Maierhofer», revealed the association Ideias do Levante, which organizes the event in partnership with Câmara de Lagoa.

On May 5, at the same time, the Choir Adagio de Portimão will perform at the Estômbar Church, interpreting the Stabat Mater, in a tribute to the 8th century Portuguese composer João Rodrigues Esteves. The festival continues on May XNUMX, a Wednesday with the performance of the Female Choir «Other Voices» from Faro» at the Pastoral and Social Center of Ferragudo, at 21 pm.

The event ends on Saturday, May 11th, with performances by the Coral Ideias do Levante de Lagoa, the Choir of INUAF, Loulé and the Coro Internacional de Aljezur, at the Municipal Auditorium of Lagoa at 17 pm.

«The culmination of the show will take place with the interpretation, together, by the three choirs, accompanied on the piano by Ricardo Coelho, of a brilliant arrangement by Ed Lojesky on the work “Os Miseráveis” by Claude-Michel Schönberg», announced the organization.

The Lagoa Coral Week is, according to José Carlos Bago d'Uva's initial project mentor, «a meeting open to the sharing of musical experiences and unforgettable moments of conviviality. voices” the (en)/song of vocal polyphony, by lands “of Levante”».

For José Carlos, this date already represents a milestone in the circuit of choral events in our country, of which he is proud to have contributed to its genesis. «Many were those who have already left their voices “deposited” in the mythical cistern of the Convento de S. José (in the first editions…) and also those who contribute to enhance the city's auditorium, making their emotions heard through the choral repertoire who work with dedication and enthusiasm», illustrated Ideias do Levante.

All concerts are recommended for over 6 years old, limited to the existing capacity, and are free of charge, with the exception of the Closing Concert, where a value of 4 Euros per ticket will be charged, with a 50% discount for minors 18 years old, over 60 years old, students, members of Ideias do Levante, holders of the Lagoa Cultural Passport, the Youth Card, and the LagoaSocial Card.
