The District Command of Faro The PSP and the Safe Communities Algarve association signed a protocol this Thursday, with the aim of working together "to promote safer communities, improve security awareness and reduce the risk of becoming a victim of crime."

This project is especially aimed at foreigners residing in the region, many of whom "may not be aware of the work of the PSP and how important it is that they can help the police", as illustrated in a press release to the Algarve's PSP.

Thus, the PSP and the association will promote “better information and consequent participation and support for the work that the police do”.

Under the protocol signed today, the PSP will create an information leaflet, which will be distributed to the foreign community by the Safe Communities Algarve, which "in addition to giving all the support to foreign residents, has an important action in supporting and disseminating" these posts.

Among the advice given in the flyer are “the conditions that companies providing security services must comply with, as well as some advice on choosing alarm systems and any legal obligations” arising therefrom.

The approach of police forces to the resident foreign community had already been addressed  by the Minister of Internal Administration Miguel Macedo on your last visit to the region, about 3 weeks ago.

At the time, the member of Government spoke with the representative of Safe Communities Algarve and praised the effort of approximation and cooperation that has been made by the different police forces in this field. Both the GNR and the PSP presented, at the meeting with the member of the Government, projects aimed at improving support visitors and foreign residents.
