Miguel Praia starts his Brazilian adventure in the local speed championship next weekend. The driver from Albufeira will make his debut next weekend at the Interlagos circuit, in the city of São Paulo, a track he already knows after having been there earlier this year, at the time of the 500 Miles, where he was second in the general and first in class Superbike.

Praia will be present in the biggest class of the Brazilian championship, Moto 1000GP, driving a Honda CBR 1000RR.

The bike is receiving the last details of its preparation at Center Moto, the team that will welcome the Portuguese in this new phase of his career, which starts at Circuit José Carlos Pace, the scene of the first of eight races on the calendar.

After a year of almost total stoppage Miguel Praia reveals that he is «obviously very motivated by the start of this new challenge, but at the same time very anxious to see what we can do».

“I feel prepared but we still have a lot of work to do. Everything will be new for me, from the circuits I don't know, to the bike and the team itself. We are going to start the championship with a huge handicap as I will only get to know the bike on the Friday before the race and so the first race will be different. Above all, I want to win at ease with the bike», added the Algarve rider.

In 2013, the pilot faces an exciting but at the same time demanding challenge. After having been in the Supersport World Championship for six years, Miguel Praia returns to the controls of a motorcycle with 1000cc engine capacity, the Honda CBR 1000RR, something he has not done since his first and difficult times in the Superbike World Championship, in 2004 and 2005, having participated in the last two races of the Portuguese Superstock 1000 championship in that same year, races which he won and which were the last ones at the controls of a 1000cc.

“It's a long championship and despite the initial disadvantage we have to learn everything in a short time and score as many points as possible in this race. I would like to set a clear objective for the first race, but without knowing the bike and the competition…it would just be to do futurology. But I am convinced that Center Moto will provide me with a competitive Honda CBR 1000RR from the first practice session».

Next Sunday marks the first race of the year for Miguel Praia, a debut in a championship that has been gaining popularity in recent years and which in 2013 is even considered the Brazilian national championship.
Miguel Praia will use his usual number 17 in this Brazilian championship.

Praia will compete side by side with the well-known Alexandre Barros, a Brazilian rider who shone in the motorcycling worlds between the 80s and the beginning of the century, and who is back on track after saying goodbye to Moto GP in 2007.
