On Saturday, the Algarve Nucleus of the League for the Protection of Nature (LPN) promotes a tour of the Ribeira do Alportel Biodiversity Station, in the municipality of São Brás, to «make known this highly important station for the defense and enhancement of the local fauna and flora'.

The meeting point is scheduled for 9:30 am, at Largo de São Sebastião, in the center of São Brás. The tour guide will be the president of Al-Portel – Association for the Defense of the Environment and Cultural Heritage of São Brás de Alportel Gonçalo Gomes.

This will be a visit to "a natural treasure recently hit by the fire in July 2012", as part of LPN's Nature Tours Cycle, as announced in a press release by the City Council of São Brás de Alportel.

The walking tour «departs to discover the effects of fire on the different ecosystems in this transitional area between the Serra and the Barrocal, as well as the ecological regeneration that has taken place in the meantime», in a circuit that will last six kilometers.

Those interested in participating must register through the e-mail [email protected], with the proper indication of name, date of birth, Citizen Card or Passport number, for the purposes of compulsory insurance. The tour costs 5 euros for non-LPN members and 1 euro for members.
