The PSD/Faro celebrated Christmas and the Instituto D. Francisco Gomes, best known for the Casa dos Meninos de Faro received the gift.

About 200 people attended the Christmas Dinner of Farenses Social Democrats last Saturday, including the Vice President of the PSD and Secretary of State for Solidarity and Social Security Marco António Costa.

The guest of honor was a government official with responsibilities in the social area, a presence that connected well with the solidarity nature of the meeting, whose revenue reverted in full to the Casa dos Meninos.

A dinner that also served to reflect on the past year, which was marked by the crisis».

During dinner, the president of the PSD/Faro and deputy to the Assembly of the Republic Cristóvão Norte considered that, in the period in which we live, "we must put our efforts at the service of those who are most vulnerable".

At the same time, he highlighted the Government's commitment to «creating social responses to mitigate the impact of this cycle of difficulty, of which the 38 social canteens it has created and the 3000 daily and free meals it offers in the Algarve are good examples, as well as the how quickly it assisted the victims of the catastrophes that this year devastated our region», namely the fire in Tavira and São Brás and the Tornado of Lagoa and Silves.

«Nobody believes that the Government does not fight for the best conditions for the application of the Memorandum of the Troika and this relief would be welcome for our economy and for the families, today it is very difficult, but this effort will bear fruit in the future and launch the Algarve and Portugal for a better cycle», he considered.

As for some of the detractors of the Government's austerity policy, Cristóvão Norte said that "it is a pity that many of those responsible are laughing and not even an act of contrition for the excesses that swamped our country and that force us to this policy" .

The leader of the PSD/Faro he did not forget the battle for autarchy scheduled for 2013 and showed his conviction that the ruling coalition will be reappointed for another term by voters.

"The Executive has made a responsible policy, tidied the house, reduced the debt and made the work possible, so the fight will be between those who put the Chamber in order and those who turned it upside down," he said.

Marco António Costa drew attention, in turn, to the social responses that the Government has ensured, noting that “while the previous Government froze the minimum pensions, this one thawed them because our attention and our action are with those who have the least ».

"It is important to do what we have been doing: to strengthen the network of partnerships with the IPSS so that this synergy is reflected in more support and help to those who are most vulnerable", defended the member of the Government.
