The Hospital of Faro once again running for another edition of Missão Sorriso, this year with two projects that aim to contribute to promoting the autonomy of elderly users who, due to illness, become physically dependent. «Youths of 80 years» and «Mov_Lab – Laboratorio de Marcha» are the two projects submitted to competition by the Hospital de Faro, which is already being voted on in the Smile Mission website.

«Young people aged 80 years» was submitted by the Internal Medicine Service 1 and intends to provide the hospitalization of this service with equipment and environments that enable greater autonomy for the elderly hospitalized here, reducing dependence and promoting a faster socio-familial reintegration, with effective gains in terms of quality of life.

The «Mov_Lab – Marching Laboratory» is the result of a partnership between the Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation Service and the University of Algarve and proposes to create a center for diagnosis, intervention and evaluation of therapeutic intervention for major inducing pathologies. functional restriction in the elderly, such as musculoskeletal disorders of the lower limb, diabetes or stroke.
