The Parish Church of São Brás de Alportel is getting ready to host another great musical moment on Saturday, the 22nd, with the Christmas Concert, in a performance by the São Brás de Alportel Philharmonic Band, with the collaboration of the traditional music group Paths of Memory.

Initially formed in 1996, within the São Brás de Alportel Volunteer Firefighters, the Banda de Metais underwent changes in 2003 and was renamed the Cultural and Recreational Association Escola de Música Sambrasense.

In 2006 the Banda de Metais was extinguished and the Philharmonic Band appeared for the first time, guided by the conductor Cornelis Ros. The following year, the conductor and teacher Albano Neto assumed the musical direction of the band, which is currently composed of about 15 trained musicians, among other members in constant formation.

Recently, as Resident Group of the new Oficina dos Sons in the municipality of São Brás de Alportel, the Banda Filarmónica begins a new cycle of life, with doors open to the community, intending to broaden its training and welcome people of all ages in love with music.

The Portuguese traditional music group Veredas da Memória was created in 2001 and is currently made up of about 12 members, whose ages vary between 24 and 65 years.

Its repertoire consists of traditional songs (profane and religious themes), from different regions of the country, with a greater focus on the ethnomusicological tradition of the Algarve.

In addition to carrying out collections of songs in the Algarve region, namely in the mountainous region, he performs, in parallel, some adaptations of authored melodies.

In this show, which will take place at the Igreja Matriz in São Brás de Alportel, at 21 pm, the São Brasenses musical groups aim to present a diverse repertoire, in a unique display of the training work developed in favor of musical culture.
