The structures of artistic creation and production of Faro will streamline the programming of Teatro das Figuras in the month of December. A tribute from the region to the musician Bernardo Sassetti, the 10th anniversary of RUA FM and the ballet «Branca de Neve» are the main proposals of the Municipal Theater of Faro for the next month, all of them created and produced in the Algarve.
Next Saturday, the first day of December, the Faro cultural space hosts a tribute to pianist Benardo Sassetti, who died this year. An initiative that begins with an informal conversation and will culminate in a concert with a repertoire of original themes by the renowned Portuguese musician and composer and authors associated with his discography.
From 18 pm, the conversation in the Foyer of Teatro das Figuras will be joined by the critic and jazz programmer of the Serralves Foundation António Curvelo, Manuel Jorge Veloso, critic and pioneer promoter of the musical genre, university professor Vítor Reia- Baptista and musician Zé Eduardo, among other musicians, as well as all interested audiences. In addition to the debate, there will be a commented hearing of musical excerpts.
At 21 pm, the concert “Pelas Mãos de Bernardo” will take place, bringing together five young pianists: Alexandre Dahmen, Daniel Bernardes, Gonçalo Moreira, Ricardo Pinto and Luís Barrigas.
This event, produced by Associação Grémio da Músicas as part of the Jazz Festival in Winter 2012, brings together two generations on stage, with young soloists invited to be accompanied by three “veterans” and faithful companions of Bernardo Sassetti: double bass players Carlos Barretto and Zé Eduardo and drummer Alexandre Frazão.
A week later, on December 8, the 10th anniversary of Rádio Universitária do Algarve RUA FM is celebrated at the gala «RUA FM ao Vivo – 10 Years of Higher Education». The event will feature music, with performances by Frankie Chavez and JP Simões, and theater, by Grupo de Teatro Universitário Sincera.
On December 21st and 22nd, the stage of Teatro das Figuras receives a classic ballet, the show «Branca de Neve», by the Companhia de Dança do Algarve, which chooses this work with music by Tchaikovsky as its usual Christmas production.
The ballet has the artistic direction of Evgueni Beliaev and choreographies by Evgueni Beliaev, Natalya Abramova and Carolina Cantinho. In addition to presentations for the general public, there will be a special session for the school public, on December 21st at 10:30 am, which will have a special price of 5 euros per person.
