The program for the commemorations of the centenary of Professor Manuel Viegas Guerreiro will be presented and launched tomorrow, Saturday, in a ceremony that will take place at the foundation bearing the honoree's name, in Querença, municipality of Loulé.

The session starts at 15:15, with the public presentation of the Digital Archive of Traditional Oral Literature and continues with the Opening of the Year of the centenary of Manuel Viegas Guerreiro, at 30:16. At XNUMX pm, an unpublished work by the honoree will be launched, the book «São Jorge, uma monograph» about the Azores. The book will be presented by Lucinda Fonseca.

Manuel Viegas Guerreiro was born in Querença on November 1, 1912 and was a professor for most of his life, first in several high schools and later full professor at the Faculty of Arts of the University of Lisbon and researcher at the Faculty's Center for Geographical Studies.

He distinguished himself, among many other things, by the work he developed in the field of Ethnology and Anthropology, and the important work he carried out with the communities of the Bushmen of Angola and the Macondes of Mozambique is well known. He died in 1997.
