The Cante Alentejano Festival will bring together next Saturday, October 20th, at 17 pm, at Teatro Mascarenhas Gregório, in Silves, seven choral groups of Alentejo cante. The action is promoted by the Association of Communities of Tunis and has the support of the Municipality of Silves.

The Cantares de Évora Coral Group, the Peace and Unity Female Coral Group (Alcáçovas), the Flores de Abril Female Coral Group (Granja), the As Margens do Roxo Coral Group (Ervidel), the Vozes das Terras Brancas Coral Group (Casevel) , the Grupo Coral da Casa do Alentejo in Albufeira and the Grupo Coral Alentejano de Tunes are the participants in this Festival.

Due to its musical, poetic and identity richness, Cante Alentejano was this year the target of a nomination for UNESCO's Representative List of Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity.

From the recognition and approval of this candidacy, a Safeguard Plan will be publicly assumed, where the various subscribing actors and institutions will commit to taking measures to protect and promote Cante Alentejano.
