The Rádio Universitária do Algarve RUA FM has been giving music, and beyond, to the Algarve for almost ten years and will celebrate the occasion with many initiatives, where music is almost always present. The edition of a commemorative record for the occasion, from a cycle of concerts that will take place in the coming weeks at the FNAC store in Guia and a gala at Teatro das Figuras are two of the moments that stand out from the party program, which lasts until December.
RUA FM, 102.7 FM was created on the 28th of November 2002, within the scope of a partnership between the Academic Association of the University of Algarve and the rectory of the Algarve university. Over time, it has become a reference in the Algarve capital, not only because it is the only station in the Algarve with its own broadcast, but also because it has always invested in the dissemination of new values in Portuguese music, namely that made by the Algarve. .
The concerts that will give rise to the new record edition of RUA FM begin on October 6th and also mark the return of the Megafone program, which in the past had the presence of several well-known artists, then in the launch phase. Virgo Suta, Freddie Locks and Frankie Chavez are just examples. This “showcase” of the new Portuguese music is now back for at least ten more programs, all broadcast from FNAC.
For the edition of the commemorative disc, RUA FM invited several bands from the Algarve and the first concert will be by the Olhão band «O Ludo». Nanook, The Quest, InTento Trio, Killing Electrónica, Nome, Versus Tuna, Pelivento and Mudo as Maria are the following artists who will also have works edited on the disc. The concerts will take place «every Saturday and Sunday in October and on the first two Saturdays of November, always at 18 pm and live on RUA FM», revealed Radio Universitária in a statement.
As for the disc, it will be «composed of 30 themes». «The “Side A” brings a theme, recorded live at FNAC, from each of the bands that go through these ten editions of the Megafone program. On the “B side” it is possible to listen to records from the archives of RUA FM, of bands that over time have made their contribution”, in the radio broadcasts.
December 8th is the day of the 10th anniversary Gala, which will have the presence, already confirmed, of Mazgani, Frankie Chavez and Banda da RUA. The theater group from UAlg Sin-Cera will also make its contribution, with "moments of conversation and theater"
