Music, theater, novo-circus, dance, photography, cinema and literature are the multiple forms of artistic expression that characterize the fourth edition of the Invisible Cities Festival, which will take place at TEMPO – Teatro Municipal de Portimão, from October 19th to 27th.

A Barcelona city, the literary setting of the work “A Cidade dos Prodígios” by Eduardo Mendoza, will serve as a guide on a journey around the legendary literary Barcelona, ​​which has already disappeared, to challenge current Barcelona, ​​through its contemporary creators.

The Festival will start on October 19, at 18 pm, with the inauguration of the photography exhibition “Barcelona's Multiverse”, by Lluís Bussé, which runs until November 00, and which presents a set of images resulting from an association of places and monuments such as the Sagrada Familia, the Torre Agbar or the Park Güell, with other places in the Catalan city, giving rise to the construction of another possible Barcelona.

From the 19th to the 27th, the renowned Portuguese photographer Susana Paiva leads a show photography workshop, an excellent proposal for those who want to start in scene photography that, in addition to a theoretical approach, offers participants the possibility of putting their knowledge into practice. , photographing the events that make up the festival.

On Saturday 20th, at 21 pm, in the Grand Auditorium of TEMPO, “Music for wild animals” will be presented, a surprising show for the whole family, which brings together nine circus artists and 30 musicians on stage, and which calls for public participation , with tickets between 20 and 14 euros.

Created by Adrian Schvarzstein and imagined from the work “The Carnival of the Animals” by Camille Saint-Saën, was specially created for the Barcelona Grec Festival and staged by the Kamchàtka, one of the most prestigious Catalan companies. The musical interpretation is in charge of the Classical Orchestra of the Academy of Music of Lagos, with the special participation of the Portuguese acrobat Patrícia Dias.

This is followed by a film cycle dedicated to Ventura Pons, the most critically acclaimed Catalan director, with the films “Morir (o no)”, “Barcelona (un mapa)” and “Any di Gràcia” from October 24 to 26 ”, always at 21 pm in the Small Auditorium and with tickets for two euros.

On October 27, TEMPO invites its Community of Readers to a get-together at the Café Concerto hosted by João Rodrigues (editor of Sextante Editora) and J. Teixeira de Aguilar (translator of the work), where they will talk about “A Cidade dos Prodígios” by Eduardo Mendoza, with free participation but limited to 30 people.

On the same day, at 21 pm, in the Grand Auditorium of TEMPO, “Somorrostro” will be presented, a show that fuses contemporary dance and flamenco, performed by the Catalan company Transit Dansa, with tickets for 30 and 12,50 euros.

The choreography, by dancer and choreographer Maria Rovira, will be performed by 11 dancers and refers to Somorrostro, a barrio of barracas demolished in the 60s, which welcomed an important community of Roma and immigrants from all over Spain, and where living conditions were very precarious but teeming with great artistic and cultural wealth, having been the birthplace of Carmen Amaya, the emblematic flamenco singer and dancer.

On the 24th and 25th, from 19 pm to 00 pm, a contemporary dance/flamenco dance workshop will take place in the Rehearsal Room at TEMPO, guided by choreographer Maria Rovira and two dancers who are part of the company Transit Dansa.

Toni Puig, the Catalan specialist in cultural management, closes the Festival on October 29 to talk about city marketing: “Barcelona – history of a city that jumped from almost nothing to the first division” is the title of the conference that will be given by the one who is considered the creator of the “Barcelona” brand and the 'guru of the cities', and which will take place in the Small Auditorium of TEMPO, between 10:00 and 17:30.
