Pedro Passos Coelho, president of the PSD and prime minister, will be the featured figure at the traditional Festa do Pontal do PSD, scheduled for August 14, this time at the salon of the Aquashow water park, in Quarteira.
The Festa do Pontal marks the end of the summer vacation period and sets the tone for the beginning of the new political year. With more than three decades of history, this initiative marks the meeting of PSD militants and sympathizers from all over the country.
In addition to Passos Coelho, Luís Gomes, president of the PSD/Algarve will also be present, as well as the figures who have marked and mark the life of the party at national, regional and local levels, as well as leaders of the autonomous structures of the party, the JSD, the TSD and the ASD.
«A few weeks after commemorating the first year at the head of the government coalition that leads Portugal, this will also be a privileged stage for a review of the work carried out and that has sought to recover the country financially and economically and with a strong emphasis on social support for those who most they need support», stresses the PSD/Algarve in a statement.
This year, unlike usual, the venue chosen for this meeting of PSD activists and sympathizers will be the hall of the Aquashow water park, in Quarteira, replacing the marginal avenue (Calçadão) that has hosted the event in recent years.
The change of location is related to “financial and logistical reasons”, since the Aquashow venue is “equipped with a set of logistical solutions that make the organization of the event considerably less onerous”.
«To the cost reduction, there is also the desire not to disturb residents and tourists, at a time of year when the Algarve, in general, and Quarteira, in particular, are especially populated», explain the Algarve social democrats. .
"At a time when the country is going through difficulties and seeks its recovery with the collective effort of all, the PSD also gives a sign of restraint in what is its most emblematic popular initiative and which for years has marked national political life" , they add.
