The Algarve Living Science Center promotes, on the night of August 29, between 22 pm and midnight, at Jardim Pescador Olhanense, the Science in Summer 00 initiative, which has the support of the Municipality of Olhão.

The event, which is free to access, allows night observation with a telescope, through which it will be possible to contemplate the stars, the Moon and the planets of the solar system and peek at distant objects in the firmament.

Throughout the night, in front of the PSP in Olhão, it will be possible to observe the Moon (after the Crescent Moon), with its relief highlighted by the Sun's illumination, the planets Saturn and Mars, swarms of stars, among other objects in the sky, always accompanied by explanations from technicians about the origins or consequences of visible phenomena.

In the sky we will have the Moon with the western edge showing us the well-defined craters due to the angle with which the Sun illuminates it, and which will possibly be the big “star” of the night with the younger ones.

Within the scope of this national initiative, more than 1700 activities are carried out throughout the country until the 15th of September, organized by Ciência Viva, the National Agency for Scientific and Technological Culture, in partnership with scientific institutions, astronomers' associations, schools, museums and Living Science Centers.

Taking advantage of the summer nights to get to know the Universe better is the suggestion that the Live Science Center of the Algarve, in this case, makes to all residents and visitors to spend a different night in the garden on the riverside of Olhão.
