Four medium amphibious bomber planes were called this morning to intervene in the fire in Catraia, in the Tavira mountains, which maintains four active fronts and is already projected in the neighboring municipalities of Loulé and São Brás de Alportel.

O Sul Informação he found that, during the night, several hills were evacuated, mainly inhabited by the elderly, as a precautionary measure. People are already returning to their homes, while social action teams are visiting the affected villages and hills, in the mountain parish of Cachopo.

Source of the presidency of the Chamber of Tavira added that some houses and support units for the agro-forestry activity had burned down.

Mayor Jorge Botelho asked CNOS for the intervention of heavy air means, given the terrain's orography and the vastness of the affected area.

During the night, with the fire moving forward on four fronts, there were already projections of fire in the parish of Santa Catarina da Fonte do Bispo and in areas of Loulé and São Brás de Alportel.

On the ground there are several machines intervening, namely two crawler machines, to try to cut the path to the fire. A light bomber helicopter is also already operating.

In addition to the four amphibious planes, a heavy bomber helicopter was also requested.

There are about 300 men on the ground, supported by half a hundred vehicles.

This is the only fire still active at this time in mainland Portugal.
