The Teachers' Union of the South Zone promotes this Thursday, 26th, at 21 pm, a protest concentration in Largo da Pontinha, in Faro.

Ana Simões, from SPZS, explains that the concentration is intended to protest against “the political and ideological options of this Government” regarding Education.

The bottom line is that many contract teachers are not sure they will have a job when their contracts with schools come to an end in September. “There is a collective dismissal of contracted teachers in progress”, stresses the union member.

The places previously occupied by contracted teachers may now be occupied by civil servants, but who ended up with no teaching component, with the so-called “zero hours” and who will now have to compete again.

In the Algarve alone, according to Ana Simões, there are 2000 hired, who may be unemployed from September onwards.

These concentrations promoted by SPZS have been promoted throughout the country. This afternoon, at 18 pm, there is also a meeting scheduled for Évora, while at night it will be the turn of Faro.

Before, at 18:00 pm, at the headquarters of this Union's delegation in the capital of the Algarve, there will be a plenary of teachers, in which the main themes will be the application of the new TC to Educators and Teachers of Private Education and also information on negotiations with the AEEP (Association of Private and Cooperative Education Establishments), CNIS (National Confederation of Solidarity Institutions) and UMP (União das Misericórdias Portuguesas).
