Eight municipalities in the Algarve present this Sunday a "very high risk" of fire, the second most serious on a scale of five, informs the Meteorology Institute on its website.

They are Aljezur, Vila do Bispo, Monchique, Silves, Loulé, São Brás, Tavira and Alcoutim.

Thirteen municipalities in mainland Portugal are currently at «maximum risk» of fire, according to the IM, but none in the district of Faro

The district of Castelo Branco has three municipalities at «maximum risk» of fire, the districts of Viseu, Guarda, Leiria and Santarém each have two municipalities with this warning.

78 municipalities in mainland Portugal are still at “very high risk” of fire.
