Starting this month, and always on the 16th of each month, Portimão will host and promote a “Beta Talk”, an initiative that aims to foster the entrepreneurial spirit and encourage the exchange of ideas in the local community. The first action is scheduled for July 16, at 19:30 pm, at Café Concerto do Tempo – Teatro Municipal de Portimão.
Informal "networking" sessions, the "Beta Talk" are intended to be a privileged moment of inspiration, sharing ideas and experiences, and always have two guest entrepreneurs, chatting with everyone present about the challenges they have overcome, the opportunities that detected, what they learned and what advice they have to give to future entrepreneurs.
In this first "Beta Talk" are invited Luis Sá Couto, owner of the Subnauta diving center and mentor of Ocean Revival, a project to create an underwater park off Portimão, using the sinking of Navy ships, and Pedro Soares, founder and owner of the company Solar One, which chose the Algarve to undertake the field of solar energy.
Participation in the sessions is completely free, but the wine-break is up to whoever comes, so participants are invited to bring wine (or juice) and snacks to share, as good ideas deserve a toast.
Local winemakers have already joined the initiative, ensuring the presence of wines from Quinta do Morgado da Torre, Herdade dos Pimentéis and Quinta da Penina in this toast, whose producers are examples of local entrepreneurship.
This initiative also has the support of ETIC-Algarve and Inesting and the media partnership of “Sul Informação”, as well as the collaboration of the University of Algarve through CRIA – Algarve Regional Center for Innovation/Division of Entrepreneurship and Technology Transfer, in addition to the Algarve Employment page at the level of dissemination, with the receptivity for partnerships with other examples and agents of regional entrepreneurship.
Portimão thus joins the network of cities that already have this entrepreneurial ritual, such as Lisbon, Porto, Braga and Ponta Delgada, where various groups gather to chat and share ideas and experiences.
The "Beta Taltk" arises from a collaboration protocol signed between the Municipality of Portimão and Beta-i - Association for the Promotion of Entrepreneurship and Innovation, which has developed an important work in terms of the creation and dynamization of a culture and entrepreneurship and innovation network, namely through the promotion of events such as “TEDxEdges”, which already took place in Portimão, or “Silicon Valley comes to Lisbon”, as well as in the acceleration of “start-ups” and easy access investment, in the form of programs such as the “Startup Weekend”, in addition to the creation of spaces, services and products focused on the entrepreneur, with the association itself based in the Startup Lisboa space.
