Between the 24th and 30th of June, the Vila Real de Santo António Sports Complex will host another edition of the Copa Foot21, an event already considered the largest concentration of young football talents.
This year, 120 teams will be present, around 2000 players between 6 and 13 years of age and close to 500 elements of the technical staff (directors, coaches, masseurs, etc.).
These numbers are joined by thousands of family, friends and visitors who make this week an unforgettable moment in the lives of all participants and who promise to fill the stands at the Sports Complex.
As happens throughout all the World Cups, teams from all national districts will be present, to which the major national clubs will join, transforming Vila Real de Santo António into an unavoidable reference in sporting terms.
In addition to the existing levels, entries were extended to the under-13 category, also in 7-a-side football, for athletes born in 99. Thus, the categories of the 5th edition of Copa Foot21 will be: under-13 (1999) ; sub-12 (2000); sub-11 (2001); sub-10 (2002) and sub-9 (2003/04).
In a first phase, the VRSA Sports Complex will host eight games simultaneously, for three days, over 9 hours a day, in a total of 72 matches. During the tournament, more than 360 games will be played, which is equivalent to 18 thousand minutes or 300 hours of football.
«Angels» and Chalana participate in the opening ceremony
The opening ceremony of the Copa Foot21 is scheduled for June 24, at 16 pm. As usual, the tournament starts with a friendly game between members of the Vila Realse autarchy and former professional players, as is the case with Fernando Chalana.
The group of stars should also be joined by journalist Pedro Pinto or brothers Nelson and Sérgio Rosado, mentors of the «Anjos» group.
Around 17:00, the parade of all participating teams begins, a moment that will be closed by the group «Anjos», who will sing the national anthem.
The ceremonies are open to teams and their fans, families, friends and everyone who wants to participate in these moments of conviviality, surprises, awards and music.
Copa Foot21 Center
In the Nave do Complexo Desportivo there will be several entertainment areas, sponsor stands, sale of photographs and movies of the games, as well as the sale of the official tournament ball. In addition to this space, the Complex has a medical center, press room, bar and auditorium.
Bus service
Throughout the World Cup, a properly identified bus line will be in operation, which will transport teams and families from the main hotels in Monte Gordo and VRSA for the Sports Complex and vice versa. The service will be open from 8:00 am to 20:00 pm.
