Rota do Petisco will return to Portimão from August 31 to October 14, with 45 days filled with delicacies and social and cultural entertainment, with the aim of turning the project into a reference in the city's tourist poster.

The second edition of Rota do Petisco, again promoted by Associação Teia d'Impulsos, with the collaboration of restaurants and pastry shops in the municipality, follows on from the success of the first edition in 2011, during which around ten thousand menus were sold in Portimão and Praia da Rocha, in the 31 participating catering establishments.

The general operating lines of the 2nd Petisco Route in Portimão will be the same as last year, with each establishment presenting a specific menu at attractive prices, with promoters betting on surpassing 2011 numbers.

Entering its second year of existence, Teia D'Impulsos – Social, Cultural and Sports Association presented this Tuesday at the Museu de Portimão the plan of activities for 2012, which includes initiatives open to all people in the Algarve, in collaboration with various local entities , such as the Municipality of Portimão.

During the presentation, those responsible for Teia d'Impulsos stressed that the association wants to reinforce its social role in the Portimão community.

In another area, the Vela Solidária project is maintained, whose mission is to enable the most disadvantaged children and young people to practice sailing, as well as people with physical and mental disabilities.

In addition to the presuppositions presented, there is also the objective of guaranteeing a sailing experience for students in basic education between the 3rd and 6th grade, based on the elevation of nautical culture, environmental education, self-improvement and training in practice of the modality.

In this second year, in addition to the girls from the Casa da Nossa Senhora da Conceição, the Vela Solidária Project will include children from the Catraia and Bom Samaritano shelters, which will result in the growth from 23 to 60 young people involved.

In the meantime, and using an adapted sailing vessel, the “Special Sailors” and “Andar à Vela” subprojects will start, respectively, aimed at young people with mental and physical disabilities.

Teia D'Ideias, a monthly space for debate that encourages active citizenship, will continue to take place at Casa Manuel Teixeira Gomes, with the following gatherings already scheduled: “Revitalize Portimão – Perspectives for the city center” (8 February); “Mobility vs Accessibility – The vision of those who need it” (March 7); and “Portimão – Seen by outsiders” (April 11).

The great ambition of this project is to publish a publication in which the most important comments and conclusions of each gathering are described, making possible a greater dissemination of shared ideas.

The 2nds are scheduled for October. Sports Days, aimed in particular at managers, coaches, athletes and other sports agents, seeking to respond to the day-to-day problems of sports associations, as well as providing management tools that enhance the development of sport.

The association, which celebrates its second anniversary next March, is responsible for the program “Impulsos” on Rádio Costa D'Oiro, broadcast every Thursday, from 20:00 pm to 22:00 pm, where the Algarve's associativism deserves particular attention and in which the debates of the Web of Ideas are transmitted on a deferred basis.
