The PSD deputies elected by the Algarve Cristóvão Norte and Elsa Cordeiro want the «Allgarve» program, should it be discontinued, to be replaced by «another one that bets on events with unquestionable external repercussions, distributed throughout the low season and that contributes to combat seasonality and repositioning the Algarve as a year-round destination».

The two parliamentarians addressed a set of questions to the Government, where they criticize the current model called «Allgarve», considering it “a drain on public money that fell far short of expectations”, but they do not admit letting the animation in the region drop.

In a note sent to the newsrooms, the content of the exhibition that framed the questions sent to the PSD/CDS-PP Government is revealed.

For the deputies, "efforts, energies and financial resources should be concentrated to design and execute a reduced but valuable range of outstanding initiatives, disseminated by the low season, and whose anchor effect would contribute to a destination for the whole year".

Before, in the Allgarve Program, «it was decided to channel public resources to animate a season whose cultural achievements already had a remarkable expression, overlapping events and not adopting a strategy that reconciled the binomial animation – promotion».

"In this sense, they question the government on whether any decision has already been taken on the extinction of Allgarve and if, if so, the Government is considering designing a new program whose philosophy is to ensure a strong external impact and the enhancement of the Algarve brand with prestigious events international”, asked the deputies elected by the Algarve.
