This Thursday, the GNR dismantled a drug trafficking network operating in the Algarve, with the arrest of 10 suspects and seizing thousands of doses of cocaine and heroin in an operation that took place in Almancil, Loulé.

The operation, which involved 80 soldiers and took place between 6:00 am and 11:00 am, was already being prepared for six months by the Criminal Investigation Nucleus of the Loulé Territorial Detachment.

GNR agents searched four houses in the parish of Almancil, detaining 10 people, nine men and one woman, between 26 and 54 years old. Eight of them were arrested for drug trafficking, one for possession of an illegal weapon (ammunition) and another for illegal stay in the National Territory.

According to the GNR, at least three of the detainees are already registered, two of whom have already served sentences for drug trafficking and theft.

The searches seized about 7000 individual doses of heroin, 1500 doses of cocaine, 100 doses of hashish, three doses of marijuana, 17 small-sized cannabis plants, hemp seeds and a package of an indeterminate product suspected of being treated of synthetic drug.

A total of 302,80 euros in cash, 22 banknotes of different values ​​and countries, 21 mobile phones, two scales, a cutting product, material for packaging the narcotic product and an artifact used for the production of cannabis were also seized.

An air pressure pistol, ammunition of various calibers and five bladed weapons (machetes, sabers, knife point and spring) were also seized, as well as material suspected of having been stolen, including an LCD, consoles, computers, cameras, a ring in gold and a watch.

The action involved close to eight dozen GNR soldiers, including Special Operations Intervention Group Forces, Intervention Forces and Criminal Investigation soldiers from across the Algarve.

The detainees remain in the GNR cells until they are present at the Judicial Court of Loulé this Friday, the 23rd, to apply coercive measures.
