The Winter Jazz Festival continues tonight, with a concert by the British Norma Winstone, accompanied on the piano by Glauco Venier, at Teatro Lethes, in faro (21:30 p.m.).

Since her appearance in the 60s in London jazz circles, Norma Winstone has worked incessantly with the biggest names in British and European Jazz.

It can be said that his voice defines an entire era of Jazz made in the old continent, from the audacious reinventions of popular American songbooks to the most abstract contemporary incursions.

In addition to her talent as a singer, Norma is an inspired lyricist, composing texts for the boldest compositions by Steve Swallow, Kennhy Wheeler and Ralph Towner, interpreting them with great skill, perfectly at ease in a field normally forbidden to most jazz singers. .

In the last decade Norma has worked regularly with the Italian pianist Glauco Venier. With him and the German saxophonist Klaus Gesing he recorded his latest work «Distances», again for the ECM publisher, receiving the most praiseworthy reviews from the specialized press.

Tickets for the concert, integrated in the Allgarve program and resulting from a co-production of Associação Grémio das Músicas and Teatro Municipal de Faro, cost 10 euros, with the usual discounts.
