The Municipality of Loulé began, about a month ago, the distribution of 30 oil oils throughout the municipality, whose collection has already reached 979,52 kg of oil in the first month, an initial balance that the municipality considers "very positive".
Used cooking oils are a type of waste whose disposal represents an environmental risk, since, when deposited in landfills or thrown into the sewer system, they cause negative impacts, such as the clogging of pipes and filters in the Treatment Plants. Waste Water, compromising its correct functioning, and causing the consequent contamination of water lines.
Thus, the municipality of Loulé calls for the residents of the municipality of Loulé to continue to contribute to the recovery of this type of waste, through a daily gesture as simple as depositing used cooking oil in oleons, in properly closed containers. the amount of oils and fats in wastewater and to reduce groundwater contamination.
It should also be clarified that 1000 liters of used cooking oil allow the production of between 920 and 980 liters of biodiesel, a fuel that has much lower carbon dioxide emission rates than those emitted by conventional fossil fuels, which contributes to reducing the emission of greenhouse gases.
