Albufeira Town Council reformulates telephone contacts to reduce costs

With the aim of reducing the costs incurred with the municipality's fixed and mobile communications, the executive proceeded with the acquisition of a new telephone exchange that will allow an annual saving of more than 26 thousand euros. At a time of increased economic difficulties, the Municipality of Albufeira proceeded with the reformulation of the telephone system, with a view to improving the management of communications and the consequent reduction in consumption.

The new telephone exchange made it possible to cancel several lines, halving the number of contacts available to the public.

Through the use of the fiber optic network between the main municipal buildings, the municipality stopped using line rental and started to control calls.

With this measure, the City Council expects to achieve a reduction in annual communications costs of around 26.800 euros.

The Chamber refers that, "following the work carried out since last July, the municipality managed to reduce its mobile networks by 50%, which is equivalent to a saving of around three thousand euros per month."
