Mathematics teachers are already organizing AlgarMat 2012

The Algarve Nucleus of the Mathematics Teachers Association will promote, on the 29th and 30th of March of next year, the AlgarMat 2012, at Rio Arade School Grouping, Parchal.

The overall theme of this AlgarMat is «Organization and Processing of Data, Statistics and Probabilities».

The program, according to Professor Nuno Garção, one of the organizers, is still being concluded, but the presence of Maria Eugénia Graça Martins, retired professor at the Faculty of Sciences of the University of Lisbon, author of the Basic Education Mathematics Program, by Ana Paula Canavarro, professor at the University of Évora, member of the FCM and PM Monitoring Committees, José Duarte, professor at the Higher School of Education of Setúbal, and still from José Paulo Viana, secondary school teacher, known for his lectures, Mathematics problems and author of the “Challenges” section in Público newspaper.

The Nucleus, recalls Nuno Garção, "was reactivated last year" by a group of Mathematics teachers from the Algarve region.

In addition to AlgarMat 2012, the Nucleus will organize the «End of Afternoon with…Joana Brocardo», scheduled for the Basic School 2,3 Dr. Joaquim Magalhães, Faro, on January 26, at 17:30 pm. This initiative, which does not require registration and has free entry, has as its theme «Mental Calculus from 1st to 12th grade».

For 2013, «we will have a very ambitious initiative, which is ProfMat 2013, with the national participation of more than 700 teachers».
