All elements of the professional team of Portimonense will, «very soon», carry out a collection of peripheral progenitor cells, which after due analysis will become part of the National Register of Voluntary Donors of Bone Marrow Cells.

This will be Portimonense's way of expressing "its deep solidarity with the Portuguese athlete Carlos Martins, a player who currently represents the Granada Club de Fútbol of Spain and who lives a family drama, due to the serious illness of his son Gustavo", who he suffers from leukemia and needs bone marrow donation.

Ricardo Pessoa, captain of the senior squad of Portimonense, also challenges "all club members and supporters to have the same gesture, in an attitude that may help not only little Gustavo, but all people who yearn for compatible bone marrow donors" .

Portimonense adds that the decision was taken after a meeting of the squad and "with one voice", stressing that "at this moment when words and gestures of comfort are needed, the squad of Portimonense intends to go further".

More information, namely who and where you can collect your collection, can be found in the CEDACE tab, in http://www.chsul.pt/
