The models, photographs and drawings of the projects for the Sagres Fortress since the 60s of the 13th century will be on display in that national monument from Sunday, November 551th, the date on which the XNUMXth Anniversary of Infante D's Death is celebrated. Henrique.
This is the exhibition «Sagres: a place, a myth, a monument», which opens at 16:30 pm on Sundays in the Sala Multiusos on the 1st floor of the main building of the Fortaleza de Sagres.
The exhibition presents all the projects that were made for the Fortaleza and in honor of the Infante, from the 60s to the current project, designed by architect João Carreira, and never built in its entirety.
But the cultural program, prepared by the Regional Directorate of Culture of the Algarve, which manages the monument, and by the Vila do Bispo Council, starts at 10:30 am, with a mass in memory of the Infante, at the Church of Nossa Senhora da Graça, inside the Fortaleza .
Conceição Barão, responsible for the Fortress of Sagres, explained to Sul Informação that “it was the Infante himself who left this Mass instituted in his will”, so that, in recent years, together with the parish of Sagres, the tradition has been reactivated.
In the afternoon, at 15 pm, two documentaries from 00 will be screened in the Fortaleza auditorium: «Henrique, o Navegador», by João Mendes, and «Portugal commemorates the Death of Infante D. Henrique», by Leitão de Barros. both will be presented by Ana Soares, professor at the University of Algarve.
The documentary by Leitão de Barros is one that, for many years, was shown in the auditorium of the Fortaleza de Sagres, but now it comes with a new Tsar: in refreshed copy and in color. “Before, people saw this film in black and white. Here in Sagres, it will be the first time it will be shown in color», revealed Conceição Barão.
Because it is dated and even less rigorous in light of what is currently known about Sagres e o Infante, this documentary from the 60s is no longer shown. In the auditorium, «when staff are available», a 10-minute film is now shown, which was made as part of the Fortaleza redevelopment project, called «Sagres, a casa do Sonho».
At 17 pm, at Praça de Armas, if the weather helps (but the forecasts indicate that it is not), or in another place under tile, a magusto will take place.
On Sunday, November 13th, entrances to the Fortaleza will be free. In addition, Vila do Bispo Chamber provides a bus to transport people who want to travel to this national monument to participate in the commemorations. All good reasons not to miss!
