Yesterday, at its weekly meeting, the Council of Ministers approved the organic structure of the Directorate-General for the Policy of the Sea, which results from the merger of competences of four different bodies.

This new Directorate-General assumes the mission of the Mission Structure for Maritime Affairs, the competences of the Directorate-General for Fisheries and Aquaculture and the Port and Maritime Transport Institute.

The organic of the Portuguese Environment Agency (APA) was also approved, resulting from the merger of the Portuguese Environment Agency, the Water Institute, the five Hydrographic Region Administrations, the Department of Prospecting and Planning (except for matters relating to international relations , coordination and monitoring of planning and budgeting instruments and those relating to the subsystem for evaluating the performance of services) and of the Committee for Climate Change (with the exception of the inter-ministerial management component of the Portuguese Carbon Fund).
