Aura Miguel, the only Portuguese Vaticanist, will be on October 8, at 21 pm, at the Cathedral of Silves, at the invitation of the Parish of Nossa Senhora da Conceição de Silves, to talk about Pope Benedict XVI.

Editor of religious affairs at Rádio Renascença and the only Portuguese journalist with permanent accreditation in the Vatican press room, Aura Miguel has a degree in Law from the Catholic University and a postgraduate degree in Information Science.

Since 1982, he has been accompanying the apostolic trips abroad carried out first by John Paul II and, currently, by Benedict XVI, always traveling aboard the papal plane.

She is the author of several books (see list below), some published in Spain, France, Italy, Germany, Poland and Russia. She also developed two television documentaries about the Supreme Pontiffs and in 2002, during the pontificate of John Paul II, she was invited to write a meditation for one of the 14 stations on the Via Crucis, presided over by the Pope on Good Friday.

Next Saturday, the journalist from Rádio Renascença will speak about the current Pope, making known to those present the personality of Benedict XVI and his ideas.

During the event there will also be a small musical moment, in charge of three young instrumentalists of the Sociedade Filarmónica Silvense, who collaborate in this event.

The Hotel Colina dos Mouros is another of the supporters of this initiative, which arises as a result of the integration of this Cathedral in the “Rota das Catedrais”.

Since April of this year, several initiatives have been developed, including an exhibition of statuary with pieces found in the parish, the presentation of the book that compiles data on the Parish Archive (an action that took place on September 3rd) and an exhibition of some of the pieces of that same Archive.

These initiatives will last until the end of the year, with some meetings/tertúlias with public figures. The next one will be on the 28th of October, also at 21 pm, and Isabel Jonet, responsible for the Portuguese Food Banks, will be the central figure, who will give an account of her experience.
