The Supermoto World Championship started this Saturday at Kartódromo Internacional do Algarve, with free practice sessions and timed training.

Current Championship leader Thomas Chareyre (TM) took second place on the grid, ceding first place to his older brother Adrien Chareyre (Aprilia). Italian Ivan Lazzarini (Honda) took third place.

The Portuguese Nuno Pinto, current leader of the Nacional and 'wild-card' at the Worlds, made just one qualifying lap and took 18th and last place on the grid.

In addition to qualifying for the World Supermoto, training and qualifying for the European Championship also took place, with Lavel Kejmar (Suzuki) being the fastest, followed by Teo Monticelli (Honda), in second place, and Petr Vorlicek (Suzuki), in third place.

With regard to the Supermoto Nacional, the two qualifying heats for the Championship took place, with Nuno Pinto (Honda) winning both races.

In the first race, the second place was reserved for Luís Ferreira (KTM) and the third for Francisco Casqueiro (Kawasaki), positions that were reversed in the following race.

The spectacularity of these races caught the attention of all those who came to the KIA for yet another great sporting event.

This Sunday there are six more races, three for the World Cup and three for the European Championship. The first test starts at 11:15 am and the last at 16:15 pm.
