The Municipality of Silves is associated with the celebrations of World Heart Day, which takes place on September 29, promoting a series of activities throughout the municipality, promoted by the Sports Sector and involving the various School Groupings in the Municipality.
During the classes on that day, a physical activity will be promoted and, at the end of the session, the participants will form a heart, and this moment will be registered through photography.
The best photos will then be displayed to the public, making known the activities carried out.
In this way, stresses the City Council of Silves in a press release, "a greater number of citizens will be covered, making them aware of the need for a healthy lifestyle, which includes the practice of physical exercise."
World Heart Day is an initiative of World Heart Federation and the Fundação Portuguesa de Cardiologia, as a member of the World Heart Federation, also intends to streamline a set of physical and sporting activities and, in this way, mobilize a large part of the Portuguese population.
The Foundation counts on the support of the Local Authorities to make the population aware of the importance of these practices and the adoption of active lifestyles, which allow for a healthier heart and life.
The Municipality of Silves recalls that it offers to all who wish, various possibilities to practice physical exercise, either in equipment such as the Municipal Swimming Pools, or in the Municipal Center for Walking and Running, or through the various leaflets that promote the autonomous practice of physical activity and these are just some of the offers available.
