Athletes from the professional team Tavira/Prio Ricardo Mestre and André Cardoso were summoned by the coach José Poeira to represent Portugal in the long-distance event of the World Cup, which takes place from September 19th to 25th, in Copenhagen, Denmark.

Ricardo Mestre, winner of the last Volta a Portugal, is an athlete trained in the schools of the Clube de Cyclismo de Tavira and has shown his value throughout his career. Another of his triumphs this season was the victory in the Joaquim Agostinho Trophy.

André Cardoso has been a reinforcement of the Tavirense team since 2009 who has contributed a lot to the results achieved by the group. This year he won the Volta à Terras de Santa Maria da Feira, and in the Volta a Portugal he won first place in the queen stage.
