Jacinto Lucas Pires, Portuguese writer, playwright and director, will be at the Municipal Library of Silves, next September 23, at 21 pm, to participate in another session of the monthly “Sarau instável” section.

On his first visit to the municipality of Silves, the winner of the 2008 edition of the Europa Prize – David Mourão-Ferreira, awarded by the University of Bari and the Instituto Camões, will talk about books and authors that have marked his life, as well as his already recognized and eclectic production in the fields of short stories, theatre, romance, journalistic chronicle, cinema and music.

Despite a law degree from the Catholic University, Jacinto Lucas Pires continued in the footsteps of his father (the well-known politician Francisco Lucas Pires) in his love of writing, publishing in 1996 his first literary work, a book of short stories entitled Para Averiguar do seu Grade of Purity.

Of the titles already published, we highlight the fiction Blue-Turquoise (1998), the travel book Livro Usado (2001), the novels Do Sol, Perfeitos Milagres and the recent The true actor (2011), the plays Universos and Frigoríficos (1998), Arranha-Céus (1999) or Octávio no Mundo (2006), the short films It's just a minute (1998) and Cinemamor (1999). In the musical area, he wrote lyrics and sang in Meio Disco, the first album by the band Os Qual.

The “Sarau instável”, an action that takes place regularly at BMS, since October 2010, has allowed everyone who participates in it to contact some of the most important names in Portuguese Arts, Letters and Culture.
