Between the 8th and 11th of September, the Casa do Povo of S. Bartolomeu de Messines hosts the OJA Jazz Fest 2011 – AJMMA Masterclass (Atelier of Jazz and Modern Music of the Algarve). 

The initiative, organized by the Orquestra de Jazz do Algarve, is highly sponsored by the Municipality of Silves. 

The AJMMA, with masterclasses of piano, drums, saxophone, double bass, trumpet, combo and bigband, is intended for all those who play a musical instrument and have general knowledge about music, over 8 years old, and costs 25 euros for students and listeners up to 14 years old, and 50 euros for students and listeners from 15 years of age onwards.

 The first day will be filled with a general presentation meeting of students and teachers and instrument/theoretical and Combos (small formations) lessons. 

On the remaining days, participants will attend classes in music training/auditory training and jazz history. 

This teaching component will culminate with the Final Student Audition and a Mini Concert by the Teachers, to take place on September 11th.

 Between the 8th and 10th of September, at 22 pm, it is also planned to hold Jam Sessions with the teachers, with free admission. 

Provide participants with four days of work and experiences that contribute to the initiation, expansion and deepening of their musical knowledge, in general, and jazz and improvisation, in particular, as well as promoting improvisation and jazz as a musical genre, are some of them. of AJMMA's goals.
